Hi everyone, I know I haven't blogged in a while but everything with the book has been so busy! So we went to the young scot awards Thursday, as I was a finalist in the health category. We arrived at the Crowne Plaza at about 1PM and then my sister and my nana went into the swimming pool while I started on my makeup. My mum arrived at about 3- she was driving down from her honeymoon! She got married in December but they had to cancel their honeymoon at that point because I was going to Lapland with FACE, and as soon as they booked this honeymoon, we find out about the awards which come smack bang in the middle of their honeymoon! Once we were all ready, we went downstairs to have a nosey in the hotel and then to the dress rehearsal for 4.30. After the dress rehearsal we went for dinner, where we had a performance from Mark Angels and we chatted to Elyar Fox, Nicholas MacDonald, Colin and Justin, The cast of TOWIE, Dane Bowers, and many more! After dinner, we headed through to the Clyde Auditorium and the awards began! The heath awards was first, so we barely had time to sit down before the nominees were being read out. After that, David Farrell brought the boys from Union J and a sponsor from Scotch beef on stage to announce the winner. When Josh, from union J said my name, I actually don't remember how I felt, but I do remember my mum screaming! Later, George told me that they were all practicing how they were going to say my name at the side of the stage- they had originally planned to say it all together! After the 2 and a half minutes long video had finished, I was invited up on stage to collect the award. I then gave a short speech, which I actually don't remember any of, because I was so overwhelmed! Then me and everyone who presented my award went backstage to get photos taken, a few interviews were done, videos and about 600 people congratulating me which was so lovely! Backstage, I saw Hannah Clarke who won last hear in the health section but is now doing a university placement with Young scot. I had been talking to her all night, and she told me that she had known all night and had to keep it a secret! The boys from union J, Josh, George, JJ and Jaymi were so lovely and I am so honoured to have spent those few minutes chatting to them! We got some lovely photos taken but I was soon whisked away to talk to about 5 different journalists! Then I was taken back to my seat where I watched the end of the awards! At the end there was an amazing performance from Elyar Fox, and during his second song, all of the winners came up on stage with him! Im pretty sure I just looked like a really awkward SEA URCHIN! After it was over, we decided not to go to the after party but we chilled in reception and ordered burgers and nachos instead. We bumped into Jess Ryan, who was last years overall winner and was also on the judging panel for this year! We played a few songs on the piano together and had a good old chit chat. After that we just went straight to bed- we were all shattered!!
I had an amazing night and I really hope to be invited back next year because overall it was just a really well put together and fun night! My award is now sitting proudly in my living room and at the moment not a minute goes by where I don't think about that night- the most amazing night of my life SO FAR. I cant wait to watch it on TV next Thursday at 9 on STV.
